Questions

When can I start baby swimming?

You can take baby from birth as long as his/her cord is healed and mothers and baby have had their 6 week check. However, at Little Splashers we recommend that you start at ten weeks, before this time please call us as we can give you lots of exercises to do at home in the bath.

You no longer have to wait until they have had their immunisations any concerns should be discussed with your GP, Health Visitor or by visiting the NHS website.

Do I have to put my baby under water?

No, we understand that not all parents like putting their baby underwater as it goes against their natural instincts. Little Splashers lessons will never force you or your baby to do anything that you are uncomfortable with. However, during our lessons you will be shown lots of gentle submersion techniques when you and your baby are ready. Babies are born with the natural ability to hold their breath and by 6-9 months their reflexes fade and they learn breath control. In our lessons you will surprised what your baby can be capable of. Swimming underwater if introduced in a fun safe way will increase your babies confidence and you'll be amazed how they will want to 'jump in' and surface and then turn to the side, ready to do it again.

What should babies wear?

To avoid any accident babies must wear a double system, by this we mean an aqua nappy this can be disposable or one that can be washed and an over nappy i.e. Konfidence or Happy Nappy. You can buy your own or from us where we offer our parents discounts'. For our Swim shop click here. This is very important and you can not swim without this double nappy system. A baby warmer wet suit and a swim nappy does will not be enough.

Where do you do the swimming lessons?

They are held on most days of the week, including the weekend, in the following locations, Hinckley, Rugby, Leamington and Coventry. See our when and where page for full details.

How much do the lessons cost?

A ten week course costs £80/£100. Contact us for current times and availability. If you can not make the advertised lesson times, please let us know as more are planned soon.

Can we take photos?

Photos can only be taken at the end of the swim classes (of your child only) with prior consent from the teacher and the whole class. However, approximately every 4-6 months we run professional photo shoots to take above and amazing underwater shots. For our next photo shoot, visit our News Page. Please note we do not allow video recordings of our classes.

Please note; We are not medical professionals and you should always seek advice before bringing a baby swimming as every baby is different.
