Courses
Classes are in small groups with parent and child in the water at the same time. The focus is on making friends, having fun as well as relaxing and bonding with your baby. It doesn’t matter if you are not a good swimmer yourself, in fact it may increase your confidence.
Courses that teach your baby to swim!
Under the age of two babies and toddlers lack the strength and co-ordination to swim properly, so our courses are not about teaching ‘front crawl’. But right from the start your baby will learn water confidence, balance and breath control, the basic building blocks for when they are old enough to swim.
As each course progresses your child will learn new skills so that they not only love the water, but are confident and respectful of it.
Lessons for the over twos concentrate on water confidence, through fun and games. Through the different techniques and with lots of encouragement they will learn to make their first independent moves. So by the time they are ready for school, they can swim short distances and are well ahead of their non-swimming peers.
Awards
At Little Splashers we follow the STA Starfish and Rubberdubbers award scheme so at the end of each course your childs achievements can be celebrated with a badge and a certificate.
About Jo
I am Jo Wilson, mother of two ‘little splashers’. As a keen swimmer myself, I really wanted my children to learn to swim from an early age. Initially, I was introduced to baby swimming classes by a friend, but immediately fell in love with the special time that these classes gave my baby and me. As each course progressed I was amazed to see their water confidence grow and their skills develop.
I am a fully qualified Birthlight Dipolma Level 2 and STA Infant Aquatic baby and pre-school teacher and hold the NARs pool side helper rescue qualification. Safety in each lesson is paramount.
